The Director of Health Sciences Clinical Coordination is administratively responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating all processes, systems, priorities, and activities associated with clinical placement for the Health Sciences Division. Works with Community Partners to ensure affiliation agreements and experience outcomes are above reproach in accordance with established PPSC and accreditation standards. Manages, supervises and coordinates all activities of clinical placement team including correspondence and internal and external communications and programs. Demonstrates a strong commitment to the value of diversity among students and staff, as well as sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of PPSC students.

The college offers the possibility for alternative work arrangements such as flexplace, remote work, or flextime scheduling upon completion of training and department needs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completed Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Three years of experience in clinical placement/management, or clinical compliance activities in healthcare of higher education industries.
  • Five years of organizational management in a medical or clinical setting.
  • Experience supervising a diverse team. 

Professional level experience is defined by the Colorado Division of Human Resources: A position that involves the exercise of discretion, analytical skill, judgment, personal accountability, and responsibility for creating, developing, integrating, applying, or sharing an organized body of knowledge.  Colorado revised statute (C.R.S. 24-50-135(1) allows colleges to exempt positions from the State Personnel Classified System that are determined to be professional level work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Five or more years of experience managing community partnerships in support of department or clinical operations.
  • Five or more years of experience supervising a diverse team.
  • Demonstrated experience with data collection and analysis.
  • Experience managing cross departmental collaboration on organizational projects.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the community college mission.

Essential Functions 

  • Oversee student clinical placement activities and internships process.
  • Develop strategies to increase community partnerships for Health Sciences Programs.
  • Initiate and maintain effective communication with clinical agencies, preceptors, and the college procurement team regarding the clinical placement approval processes.
  • Creates standing policy and procedures for continuity of services while simultaneously adapting to changes in healthcare.
  • Administers strategies to improve clinical rotation experience.
  • Sets targets and achievements for obtaining same.
  • Reports progress to Executive Dean of Health Sciences.
  • Ensures identified community partner/student concerns are resolved and satisfaction is maintained and improved.
  • Collaborate with HS Chairs and Faculty in student/preceptor placement needs.
  • Determine/develop necessary resources to train students, faculty, and instructors on the clinical rotation/internship requirements.
  • Maintaining regulatory records and paperwork.
  • Travel to community sites as needed.
  • Provide oversight to clinical Placement Coordinators and support the success of the team.
  • In collaboration with HR and Procurement, leads the development and management of clinical databases for clinical agencies, preceptors, and faculty/student orientation requirements.
  • Understand and promote use of quality measure related to benchmark indicators of superior performance for students and partners.
  • Gather and utilize metrics data to drive strategic divisional programs and process implementation or procedural changes.
  • Analyze and leverage metrics data to effectively train and develop clinical placement staff.
  • Collaborate with clinical placement team and HS Chairs on the collection, preparation, analysis and distribution of information and materials for clinical placement.
  • Advise HS Leadership on opportunities for strategic growth based on clinical placement activities.
  • Supervise two clinical coordinators.
