The Accessibility Services Specialist will have knowledge and understanding of general Accessibility Services functions to assist with department administrative operations. The position responsibilities will encompass department coordination, student records, data management and reporting, budget management, procurement, purchasing, and managing student staff. This position will also serve as a resource providing department information, guidance, and interpreting Accessibility Services operational policies and procedures.

Reports to: Director of Accessibility Services

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completed Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution OR completed Associate's degree with two years of professional level experience performing similar duties to those described for this position.
  • One year of experience in a student services area.
  • One year of experience with application and use of Microsoft Office Suite software.

Professional level experience is defined by the Colorado Division of Human Resources: A position that involves the exercise of discretion, analytical skill, judgment, personal accountability, and responsibility for creating, developing, integrating, applying, or sharing an organized body of knowledge.  Colorado revised statute (C.R.S. 24-50-135(1) allows colleges to exempt positions from the State Personnel Classified System that are determined to be professional level work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities. 
  • Experience with data collection and analysis.
  • Experience with budget management and procurement processes.
  • Experience with records and data management.
  • Experience with supervision and training of student staff.
  • Experience working in a college environment.

Essential Functions  

Records and Data Management

Assist the Director with data compilation, review, and analysis for various monthly and annual reports.  Maintain records and current procedures for procurement, official functions, and budgeting.  Review and reconcile records for accuracy.

Coordinate employee changes and new hires with ITSS, HRS, and Facilities. Collect and track student disability related information, file and update as necessary. Maintain, update, ensure accuracy and completion of electronic student files. Collect statistical data related to and in compliance with state legislation. Archive student records in accordance with retention guidelines. Manage department forms, website content and SharePoint pages.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Serve as the department specialist for the process of student hourly and student staff employees. Primary liaison between student employees, payroll, and financial aid as necessary. Provide technical assistance, training, and developing workflow of student employees. Responsible for scheduling, evaluating, supervising, and time/leave for student staff.  

Department Coordination

Coordinate with various sections within the department to improve daily operations and streamline processes. Interpret departmental policies and procedures providing guidance for colleagues. Provide support for additional department administrative operations. Maintain general understanding and knowledge of department objectives to serve as a point of contact for walk-ins, check-ins, phone calls. Respond to department mail, email, and fax inquiries. Place department supply orders and manage p-card process. Create documents, manage calendars, coordinate set-up and equipment for trainings and special functions.

  • Ability to travel to multiple campuses to support department needs.
  • Maintain confidentiality while working effectively with all constituents.
