The Content Coordinator is responsible for integrating and coordinating internal and external marketing messaging. This position will support team efforts by developing and creating effective written content for the college for digital and traditional media channels.
This position requires an excellent writer capable of ideating and creating original written content that is compelling, authentic and timely to differentiate Pikes Peak State College from our competition and effectively communicate with our constituents. This position requires a blend of excellent planning, copywriting, storytelling, research and interviewing skills, with an understanding of audience needs to produce engaging and effective messaging that supports marketing priorities.
This position requires understanding of SEM and SEO strategies, email marketing, and effective use of social media for higher education, both as a communications tool and a method for social listening. This position will also support college-wide efforts to better serve Hispanic identifying students and other underrepresented populations.
The college offers the possibility for alternative work arrangements such as flexplace, remote work, or flextime scheduling upon completion of training and department needs.
Reports To: Executive Director, Marketing and Communications
Minimum Qualifications
- Completed bachelor’s degree from a regionally credited institution OR completed Associate degree with two years of professional level experience performing similar duties to those described for this position OR four years of professional level experience performing similar duties to those described for this position.
- Two years of experience with content creation, public relations, digital marketing, or social media management.
- One electronic portfolio of writing samples, including but not limited to pitch letters, press releases, articles, speeches, case studies or white papers. Please include the e-portfolio link in your cover letter or resume.
Professional level experience is defined by the Colorado Division of Human Resources: A position that involves the exercise of discretion, analytical skill, judgment, personal accountability, and responsibility for creating, developing, integrating, applying, or sharing an organized body of knowledge. Colorado revised statute (C.R.S. 24-50-135(1) allows colleges to exempt positions from the State Personnel Classified System that are determined to be professional level work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to read, write, and speak fluent Spanish.
- Three years of experience writing copy for email, print, web, social media or digital advertising channels in Spanish and English.
- Proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe Creative Suite applications.
- Demonstrated understanding of content hierarchy, user experience, personalization, and SEO best practices to create effective digital marketing content and campaigns.
- Experience leading creative projects and campaigns from concept to execution in higher education.
- Demonstrated experience collecting, preparing, and analyzing data for reporting.

Essential Functions
Content Creation & Delivery
- Serve as Spanish and English copywriting lead for marketing initiatives and strategic communication.
- Develop specific digital media campaigns to reach marketing goals. Including development of editorial and social media calendars to keep content consistently publishing.
- Collaborate with marketing team, college leadership, enrollment services, academic programs, and agency partners on the development and execution of Spanish and English content.
- Identify and curate a repository of messages that demonstrate the quality of Pikes Peak State College programs and student experience.
- Regularly audit content to identify gaps, areas of opportunity, under and over performing content, and use this data to develop action plans.
- Edit, revise, and proofread marketing and communication materials to resolve errors and inconsistencies in style, syntax, grammar, and format for both Spanish and English materials.
- Develop, write and edit internal newsletter (Stall Street Journal)
- Manage and coordinate PPSC staff and student staff for printing, distribution and installation of Stall Street Journal and accompanying display cases.
- Write, develop and edit presentations, web copy and promotional literature.
- Write, plan, schedule and upload all weekly communication updates to internal electronic communication vehicles, tvs and electronic versions of newsletter.
- Serve as main point of contact for all internal communication/promotional project requests.
- On call for weather and crisis/emergency related situations (on call 24 hours as support and back-up for Executive Director of Marketing & Communications).
- Coordinate with work studies to keep web and social media posts up to date and engaging.
Public & Media Relations
- Build and maintain media contact databases.
- Convert internal communication to external press releases and PSAs for media distribution and crafts targeted external releases.
- Develop and nurture solid relationships with key marketing and community contacts.
- Respond to media inquiries.
- Conduct media interviews when the President or Executive Director of Marketing and Communications are not available.
- Monitors local and regional media for placements and assembles clips reports.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Systems Management, Reporting and ROI
- Monitors and measures the effectiveness of content strategy by establishing goals and key performance indicators.
- Leverages data to guide content making decisions.
- Applies market research tactics to support content creation.
