The Coordinator of Academic Tutoring for CHES and Rampart Range Campuses at Pikes Peak State College supports the Associate Vice President of Academic Resources in organizing, scheduling, and managing tutoring operations across multiple campuses. At the direction of the Associate Vice President this position oversees tutoring services including, tutoring centers, Lead Tutors, tutors, student staff, and workspaces. This position works collaboratively with faculty and other instructional partners to support student learning and instructional needs and to ensure that innovative practices are meeting the needs of students and faculty. This position ensures that these operations are carried out in an efficient and productive manner. In addition, this position tracks the tutoring budget, works in collaboration with other Academic Resources partners, and may supervise full and part time, classified, APT, and student staff.
The college offers the possibility for alternative work arrangements such as flexplace, remote work, or flextime scheduling upon completion of training and department needs.
Minimum Qualifications
- Completed bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution.
- Three years of experience working in a secondary or post-secondary learning environment.
- Supervisory experience.
Professional level experience is defined by the Colorado Division of Human Resources: A position that involves the exercise of discretion, analytical skill, judgment, personal accountability, and responsibility for creating, developing, integrating, applying, or sharing an organized body of knowledge. Colorado revised statute (C.R.S. 24-50-135(1) allows colleges to exempt positions from the State Personnel Classified System that are determined to be professional level work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a college Learning Commons, and or Tutoring Center environment.
- Completed Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
- Experience working with budgets to include planning, purchasing, and tracking.
- One or more years of supervisory experience.

Essential Functions
- Supervise operations of the Tutoring Centers at the Center for Healthcare Education and Simulation (CHES) and Rampart Range campuses.
- Recruit and hire tutors and Lead Tutors for a breadth of academic programs and courses, that also positively impact the overall student experience.
- Coordinate training of tutoring staff in operations, policies, and cultural competencies.
- Manage each center’s scheduling to ensure all hours of operation are adequately and appropriately staffed.
- Supervise full and part-time staff.
- Establish an organizational structure with Lead Tutors and Tutors that supports efficient operations.
- Market/publicize the Center’s services to students, faculty, and staff.
- Co-facilitate the Faculty Advisory Committee for the Learning Commons.
- Identify, collect, and report on data that impacts services to students.
- Represent the associate vice president and the division as requested at institutional and Community College of Colorado System (CCCS) events and meetings.
- Support the AR Division admin with budget tracking for tutor and Lead Tutor payroll as well as marketing and supply needs.
- Ensure that outcomes assessment and assessment planning is in place for Tutoring Services.
- Identify processes and best practices that reach historically underserved populations with Tutoring Services.

- Support the supervision and hiring of staff including student staff.
- Collect and use important and informative data that shows Tutoring usage and student outcomes.
- Understands the community college student learning needs and experienced in working with individuals from diverse ethnic, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
- Able to assess and develop standards and best practices for a variety of instructional and reference circumstances.
