The Behavioral Health and Nursing Simulation Coordinator/Faculty will provide leadership and oversight of the Nursing Simulation process. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to oversight of the daily simulation operations ensuring they are fully equipped, safe, and aligned with accreditation and program standards. This position will collaborate with faculty to develop, schedule and execute nursing simulation that utilizes evidence-based methodologies and collaboratively meeting with various community stakeholders in order to fulfill the mission of the nursing program and the college. This position will participate in other related functions to support the Nursing department.
This is a Perkins Grant funded assignment.
Multi-year grants are funded based on the fiscal years for the full grant period. However, there is no guarantee that funding is available year after year from the awarding agencies. Employment with the college after each grant-funded period is not assured.
Grant-funded positions cannot guarantee a payout of leave benefits. Grant-funded employees are encouraged to work with their supervisor to schedule and utilize annual leave benefits during each grant fiscal year.
Grant funded positions may be eligible for annual increases contingent upon awarded yearly grant budgets and a satisfactory performance evaluation.
Reports to: Director of Nursing Education Practices
Anticipated start date is February 2026. The required teaching schedule is February to May. The required pay schedule is February to August; base salary $30,279 gross.
Beginning fall semester 2026 and ongoing: The required teaching schedule is August to May. The required pay schedule is September to August; base salary $75,021 gross.
Minimum Qualifications

Completed Master of Science in Nursing.

Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) Certification or ability to obtain within one year of hire.

Two years of recent (within the last five years) non-teaching work experience in a clinical RN position.

Teaching experience in a college nursing program or clinical education environment.

State of Colorado RN License in good standing or ability to obtain upon offer of employment.

Possess a Colorado Vocational Credential in Health Occupations or the ability to obtain.
Professional level experience is defined by the Colorado Division of Human Resources: A position that involves the exercise of discretion, analytical skill, judgment, personal accountability, and responsibility for creating, developing, integrating, applying, or sharing an organized body of knowledge. Colorado revised statute (C.R.S. 24-50-135(1) allows colleges to exempt positions from the State Personnel Classified System that are determined to be professional level work.
Preferred Qualifications

Doctoral Degree in Healthcare or Education related field.

Three or more years of clinical experience.

Three or more years of operational experience with simulation services, technologies, and applications.

Experience using B-line Medical SimCapture.

Essential Functions
SIM Instructional Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the nursing clinical coordinator to develop and maintain a student rotation schedule for high-impact simulated learning in lieu of hospital and/or long-term care clinical hours.
- Design, develop, implement and evaluate new scenarios and educational initiatives in collaboration with course faculty and content experts.
- Validate existing courses, scenarios, and initiatives to ensure effectiveness of educational programs.
- Develop strategies to enhance programs and services, utilize available resources and acquiring additional tools to create a realistic learning environment.
- Develop, maintain and analyze instructor and student simulation evaluation tools to measure learning outcomes.
- Collect instructor and student feedback following simulation experiences to analyze the impact of simulation on the learning process.
- Identify opportunities for improvement, innovation, implementation and integration of patient simulation technology into existing healthcare curricula.
- Conduct in-services for nursing faculty on simulation pedagogy and technology use.
