The Director of Rehabilitation provides comprehensive leadership and administrative oversight for the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) associate and bachelor’s degree programs, the future Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) program, and planned hybrid delivery options. The Director is responsible for ensuring the programs meet all accreditation and regulatory standards, maintaining academic and clinical excellence, fostering interprofessional education (IPE) and simulation integration, and ensuring the successful operation and growth of the Rehabilitation Department.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current Licensed Physical Therapist (PT) or Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA).
  • Completed master’s degree in a related field. 
  • Five years of clinical experience in rehabilitation.
  • Three years of academic teaching or program administration experience.
  • Experience with accreditation processes (CAPTE, ACOTE, or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated experience with budgeting and resource management.
  • Familiarity with simulation-based education and interprofessional collaboration.

Professional level experience is defined by the Colorado Division of Human Resources: A position that involves the exercise of discretion, analytical skill, judgment, personal accountability, and responsibility for creating, developing, integrating, applying, or sharing an organized body of knowledge.  Colorado revised statute (C.R.S. 24-50-135(1) allows colleges to exempt positions from the State Personnel Classified System that are determined to be professional level work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in launching new health science programs.
  • Successful completion of nine hours of graduate course work in education or Education Leadership Fellowship APTA.
  • Prior experience with hybrid/online program delivery.
  • Background in occupational therapy or related rehabilitation fields.

Essential Functions, General Duties, Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

Program Leadership and Accreditation

  • Oversee all accreditation processes for the PTA (Associate and Bachelor) and OTA programs (Associate and Bachelors).
  • Ensure continuous compliance with CAPTE, ACOTE, and institutional accreditation standards.
  • Lead curriculum development and review to maintain contemporary and evidence- based practices.
  • Prepare and submit required accreditation documentation, reports, and self-studies.

Administrative Oversight

  • Develop, manage, and monitor the program budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Oversee the procurement, maintenance, and updating of laboratory and simulation equipment.
  • Ensure faculty and instructor compliance with institutional policies and program-specific procedures.
  • Facilitate faculty and department meetings to support communication and program improvement.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor faculty and instructor evaluation processes.

Faculty and Clinical Oversight

  • Provide mentorship, support, and performance evaluation for full-time, part-time, and adjunct faculty.
  • Collaborate with the Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education (ACCE) to secure, maintain, and evaluate clinical partnerships and contracts.
  • Oversee student clinical placements and ensure clinical site compliance with program and accreditation standards.

Simulation and Interprofessional Education

  • Integrate and oversee the use of simulation within the curriculum.
  • Develop and promote interprofessional and interprofessional education (IPE) initiatives in collaboration with other health programs.
  • Ensure alignment of simulation and IPE experiences with course and program outcomes.

Program Growth and Development

  • Lead the planning, implementation, and launch of the OTA program and hybrid delivery options.
  • Collaborate with college administration to explore and support future health science program opportunities.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the rehabilitation programs, college leadership, and external stakeholders.
