The Testing Support Specialist provides students, staff, and faculty at Pikes Peak State College and community members in the Pikes Peak Region with support in delivering integrated testing services. This position provides testing services to include proctoring and administering placement testing, testing for PPSC courses, standardized and industry certification testing, CLEP and DSST testing, GED and ESL testing, and other tests determined to meet students’ needs. Testing Support Specialists operate testing software, including online and computer-based testing, follow regulations and technical support, and ensure the academic integrity of testing. All responsibilities are designed to advance retention practices, graduation rates, and overall student success across the institution.
Minimum Qualifications
- Completed Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution OR completed Associate’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with two years of professional level experience administering a variety of testing and assessment programs, teaching, or providing student support services.
- Understanding of the mission of open access institutions and their student populations.
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Suite and electronic file management.
Professional level experience is defined by the Colorado Division of Human Resources: A position that involves the exercise of discretion, analytical skill, judgment, personal accountability, and responsibility for creating, developing, integrating, applying, or sharing an organized body of knowledge. Colorado revised statute (C.R.S. 24-50-135(1) allows colleges to exempt positions from the State Personnel Classified System that are determined to be professional level work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to read, write, and speak fluent Spanish.
- Master's degree in a related field.
- Experience proctoring and administering various testing or assessment programs, including national-level standardized exams.
- Experience in advising, career counseling, or student services in higher education.
- Experience working directly with diverse student populations and an understanding of Pikes Peak State College’s mission.

Essential Functions
Test Proctoring and Administration
- Provide testing services including placement, standardized, and course-specific exams.
- Offer pre-test advising and evaluate placement based on academic documentation.
- Maintain test integrity and ensure compliance with testing procedures.
- Assist students with scheduling and navigating testing services.
- Troubleshoot IT issues and maintain exam computers.
Administrative Support
- Support Advising & Testing operations, ensuring compliance with institutional practices.
- Update documents and marketing materials.
- Deliver excellent customer service through timely communication.
Marketing, Outreach, and Accountability Projects
- Represent department on college committees and task forces as assigned.
- Support marketing, outreach, and equity-based service initiatives to provide equity based, culturally competent, efficient, and fair services.
- Support continuous assessment and process improvement for Advising & Testing services.
General Duties, Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Cultural Competency: Strong understanding of and commitment to diversity and multiculturalism. Demonstrated evidence of applying these concepts effectively in the workplace.
- Customer Service: Ability to provide high-level customer service to individuals and groups in- person, over the phone, via email, and text-message through utilizing excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Higher Education Knowledge: Familiarity with student services in higher education, with knowledge of student development and learning theories.
- Teamwork and Independence: Ability to professionally and tactfully interact, communicate, establish rapport, and work collaboratively with a wide variety of constituents, including students, faculty, staff, and community members and organizations. Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal direction.
- Technology Proficiency: Demonstrated experience with student information systems, test administration systems, and customer relationship management systems. Daily proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including designing, creating, and maintaining forms, reference materials, databases, and training resources.
- Project Management: Aptitude for effectively prioritizing and managing multiple projects, ensuring deadlines are met without compromising quality.
- Location and Hours Flexibility: Willing to work occasional evenings and Saturdays, and work at all PPSC campuses and other locations to accommodate programming needs.
