The Behavioral Health Program Coordinator will help develop and implement new Behavioral Health programming that is innovative and timely, serving Pikes Peak State College, the Pikes Peak region, and the state of Colorado. This role is responsible for leading, supervising, and collaborating with faculty and part-time instructors in the department to develop and implement innovative and timely Behavioral Health programming that serves PPSC’s community and the state of Colorado. The Behavioral Health Program Coordinator will utilize excellent communication, organization, and detail-oriented skills to effectively manage the programmatic requirements and timelines.

This is a grant funded assignment with a projected end date on or before December, 2026.

Multi-year grants are funded based on the fiscal years for the full grant period.  There is no guarantee that funding is available year after year from the awarding agencies.  Employment with the college after each grant funded period is not assured. 

Grant funded positions cannot guarantee a payout of leave benefits.  Grant funded employees are encouraged to work with their supervisor to schedule and utilize annual leave benefits during each grant period. 

Grant funded positions may be eligible for annual increases contingent upon awarded yearly grant budgets and a satisfactory performance evaluation. 

REPORTS TO: Director of Behavioral Health

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completed Master’s Degree in a behavioral health-related profession earned from a regionally accredited institution OR completed Master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in behavioral health or tested experience.
  • Eligible for Colorado Career & Technical Education (CTE) Credential http://coloradostateplan.com/administrator/credentialing/.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Professional level experience is defined by the Colorado Division of Human Resources: A position that involves the exercise of discretion, analytical skill, judgment, personal accountability, and responsibility for creating, developing, integrating, applying, or sharing an organized body of knowledge.  Colorado revised statute (C.R.S. 24-50-135(1) allows colleges to exempt positions from the State Personnel Classified System that are determined to be professional level work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Unencumbered professional license (e.g., LPC, LCSW, etc.) in the state of Colorado.
  • Unencumbered Licensed Addiction Counselor in the state of Colorado.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak fluent Spanish.
  • Work experience in the mental/behavioral health field.
  • Experience training or teaching behavioral health content.
  • Experience with the Behavioral Health Administration regulations.
  • Project management experience.
  • Supervisory experience.

Essential Functions 

This position is responsible for leading the curriculum development, design, and implementation for all behavioral health courses and programs, ensuring alignment with state and accreditation standards as well as collaborating with faculty to identify needed updates. Additionally, this role provides leadership, mentoring, support, and evaluations for all behavioral health faculty and instructors, including scheduling courses and assigning instructors, as well as ensuring professional development opportunities are available. The Behavioral Health Program Coordinator advises students in behavioral health programs on course selection, career options, internships, and transfer opportunities, addressing any student issues and concerns. Furthermore, this position oversees coordination and promotion of behavioral health programs and courses, analyzes enrollment, retention and assessment data to identify needs, and recommends resources for programs. The Behavioral Health Program Coordinator is also responsible for building connections with industry partners, advisory boards, prospective transfer institutions and other stakeholders, representing behavioral health programs, as well as instructing behavioral health courses, maintaining expertise in subject matter, pedagogy, and effective teaching practices.

General Duties, Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Cultural competence and demonstrated evidence, understanding, and commitment to the concepts of diversity, multiculturalism, and their application in the workplace.
  • Lead course and program development as well as statewide curriculum changes, working with the Curriculum Committee for a timely and accurate reflection in the college catalog.
  • Build personnel capacity by developing instructor job descriptions and identifying and advocating for new temporary and regular employees to support the work of the Behavioral Health grant and current and anticipated program needs.
  • Collaborate closely with the Director of Behavioral Health, faculty, staff, and instructors in the design and implementation of departmental plans that support the college mission, vision, strategic plan, and equity and inclusion goals.
  • Coordinate departmental promotion with the college’s Marketing and Communications, Recruitment and Admissions, and Advising teams.
  • Connect with prospective transfer institutions to review transfer agreement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with marketing and enrollment departments on recruitment strategies.
  • Identify supplies, equipment, and space.
  • Collaborate with Work-Based Learning Coordinator on Work-Based Learning experiences.
  • Analyze assessment data for courses, micro-credentials, and degree and implement changes for continuous
    improvement.
  • Support partnerships with prospective and current transfer institutions.
  • Approve and oversee concurrent enrollment instructors and courses.
  • Review course schedules and adjust as needed, using enrollment trends, student feedback, industry partnership
    insights, and college scheduling initiatives as guiding principles.
  • Monitor course enrollment and open or close courses based on registration reports.
  • Foster a culture of academic excellence and culturally relevant pedagogy while also leading efforts oriented to
    closing the gap for historically underserved and excluded students.
  • Actively participate in committee work that promotes the goals of the division and the institution.
  • Actively participate in community activities and advisory boards.
  • Assist the Director of Behavioral Health, where appropriate, in building relationships with the division and
    community partners.
  • Develop curriculum using appropriate instructional design elements.
  • Build starter shells in D2L (course management system).
  • Ensure familiarity with program and course information, related industry certifications and licensure requirements, and correlation to behavioral health careers and connected pathways.
  • Address and resolve student concerns, in accordance with college policy and procedure.
  • Provide proactive and holistic support for students; this includes providing outreach, differential instruction
    with high expectations, and high support for students of varied preparedness.
  • Promote student success through inclusive, accessible, multi-modal, challenging, equity-minded, student centered,
    and engaging instruction.
