The COSI CPP Post Secondary Student Success Program Specialist Coach will assist with the development, implementation, and evaluation of activities designed to support the academic success of COSI CPP Post Secondary scholarship recipients. The coach will create and implement 21st century student recruiting strategies. The coach will cultivate new partnerships with community stakeholders and will coordinate with current community partners and stakeholders to recruit new students. The coach will work with a cohort of students to achieve their academic and career goals. The coach will ensure that COSI CPP Post Secondary scholarship recipients comply with the requirements of the scholarship. The coach will provide guidance and support via a variety of initiatives including coaching, academic mentoring, group facilitation, and referrals to other on and off campus resources. The coach will employ principles of high impact practices in their work and will direct students to high impact learning opportunities.

This is a grant funded assignment with a projected end date on or before June 30, 2026.

Multi-year grants are funded based on the fiscal years for the full grant period.  However, there is no guarantee that funding is available year after year from the awarding agencies.  Employment with the college after each grant funded period is not assured. 

Grant funded positions cannot guarantee a payout of leave benefits.  Grant funded employees are encouraged to work with their supervisor to schedule and utilize annual leave benefits during each grant period. 

Grant funded positions may be eligible for annual increases contingent upon awarded yearly grant budgets and a satisfactory performance evaluation. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completed Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution. 
  • Two years of professional experience in academic advising, career counseling, social services, teaching or student services.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completed Master's Degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Two years of professional experience working in a higher education setting with college students.
  • Demonstrated academic or student success coaching experience.
  • Demonstrated experience working with financial aid, enrollment, or other student service processes at a college or university.
  • Demonstrated experience using an enrollment and advising system (such as Banner, EAB, Navigate), a learning management system (such as D2L), or similar student/client information system.
  • Demonstrated experience in public speaking, teaching, facilitating workshops, or small group facilitation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in program evaluation, analysis, and data collection.

Professional level experience is defined by the Colorado Division of Human Resources: A position that involves the exercise of discretion, analytical skill, judgment, personal accountability, and responsibility for creating, developing, integrating, applying, or sharing an organized body of knowledge.  Colorado revised statute (C.R.S. 24-50-135(1) allows colleges to exempt positions from the State Personnel Classified System that are determined to be professional level work.

Essential Functions 

  • Represent the college in the community by creating, hosting, and participating in recruitment events.
  • Provide regular individual and small group coaching for a cohort of approximately 150 to 200 COSI CPP Post-
  • Secondary scholarship recipients to facilitate academic success in college.
  • Communicate with faculty concerning students’ academic progress.
  • Connect students to college resources.
  • Develop and coordinate group-mentoring initiatives to provide academic, personal, and career enrichment activities, such as welcome events, team building, and service learning.
  • Ensure students comply with COSI CPP Post-Secondary scholarship requirements.
  • Assist with the overall evaluation of the program including disaggregated data collection and analysis of key measurements of the COSI CPP Post Secondary success program grant.

  • Cultural competence and demonstrated evidence, understanding, and commitment to the concepts of diversity, multiculturalism, and their application in the workplace.
  • Ability to cultivate new relationships with community stakeholders and to maximize synergies that exist with current partnerships.
  • Ability to manage program caseload with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to prepare reports regarding work and impact.
  • Utilize a case management model to provide the assistance needed for students to complete academic goals at PPCC.
  • Knowledge of and ability to make proper referrals to students for college programming and support services.
  • Guide students to become their own advocates in achieving educational goals by referring them to institutional Student Success resources.
  • Coach students on academic success strategies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other department staff.
  • Apply strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills with students, staff, faculty, and community members.
  • Mentor student cohorts in a classroom environment to advance student retention.
  • Assist students on financial literacy, FAFSA compliance, and scholarship opportunities.
  • Assist students to develop and comply with their student success contract agreement.
  • Apply knowledge of financial aid and financial aid referral needs and scholarship searches.
  • Understand and display the concepts of diversity and multiculturalism and their application in the workplace.
  • Work collaboratively and efficiently with the Foundation office on student success.
  • Employ efficient organizational skills and work under deadlines to achieve strategic goals.
