Part-time instructor positions (as defined by State Board Policy, BP 3-10) exist to create and maintain a teaching and learning environment that empowers students to be successful. Part-time instructors work under the direction of their respective Department Chair, Associate Dean, or Division Dean. 

Pikes Peak Community College maintains a pool of qualified part-time instructors. Part-time instructors will be selected to support departmental requirements. Part-time instructors may be employed to teach courses, conduct presentations or other service activities when current instructors and faculty are not available.

Must be a State of Colorado resident or able to relocate to Colorado prior to first date of employment.  All work must be performed in the State of Colorado.

• Completed Master's in Engineering from a regionally accredited institution, OR completed master's degree in a related field with 18 graduate credit hours in Engineering.
• Ability to demonstrate or articulate a commitment to serving underrepresented populations or populations affected by societal inequities.

• One year of full-time or part-time teaching experience at the post-secondary or college level, or two years of instruction at the high school level.
• Demonstrated experience and willingness to teach introductory courses in engineering.
• Demonstrated experience teaching engineering labs and project-based engineering courses.
• Demonstrated experience and willingness to use a variety of instructional methods.
• Experience using online learning platforms (i.e. Desire2Learn, WileyPlus, McGraw Hill Connect, etc.)
• Experience with engineering software and programing tools such as MATLAB, Python, Solidworks, etc.
• Relevant industry experience that includes current engagement with professional activities.
• Experience and ability to instruct, interact, and build rapport with a diverse student population.

$61.44 per contact hour.  Pikes Peak Community College participates in the Colorado Public Employees' Retirement Association (PERA) contribution rates.

CTE Programs: Applicants must possess or be eligible to receive the relative Colorado State Career Technical Education Teaching Credential in order to qualify for disciplines within CTE Programs. Information on credentialing requirements can be located online at http://www.coloradostateplan.com/default_cred.htm

1. Meeting all scheduled classes/labs/clinics and providing instruction in accordance with the philosophy and objectives of the college and the Department Chair’s approved course outline.

2. Using teaching methods and media designed to reach students of varying educational and experiential backgrounds to allow each student the opportunity to master the objectives of the course.

3. Informing students of course requirements through a course syllabus, including: specific objectives, means of attaining objectives, and methods of instruction and grading.

4. Evaluating students on a continuing basis to allow them to be aware of their own progress.

5. Participate in department and/or college level assessment of student learning outcomes in general education and career/technical courses and programs as required.

6. Recommending instructional materials, textbooks, appropriate instructional equipment, and the Library supportive reference materials.

7. Maintaining and submitting records as required by policy and procedures.

8. Promoting affirmative action equal opportunity concepts within the scope of assigned responsibilities.

9. Maintaining required credentials, licenses, certification as appropriate, and proficiency and up-to-date knowledge in the subject matter area.
