The Recruitment and Admissions Specialist is responsible for recruiting prospective students and providing admissions counseling for enrollment at Pikes Peak State College. This role is crucial in building awareness about the college, its academic programs, and the enrollment process. The specialist will develop and implement outreach plans for high schools, the community, college fairs, and on-campus recruitment programs through virtual, remote, and in-person methods. The specialist will work collaboratively within Student Services to support the mission of Pikes Peak State College.

Outreach may require regional travel, adhering to local health guidelines, and flexible scheduling, including evenings and weekends. The primary location will be at the Rampart Campus (2070 Interquest Parkway) and local high schools.  

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completed Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution OR completed Associate’s degree with two years of professional-level experience performing similar duties OR four years of professional-level experience performing similar duties.
  • One year of professional level experience in recruitment, admissions, enrollment, student services, marketing, advising, public relations, career counseling, or closely related field.

Professional level experience is defined by the Colorado Division of Human Resources: A position that involves the exercise of discretion, analytical skill, judgment, personal accountability, and responsibility for creating, developing, integrating, applying, or sharing an organized body of knowledge.  Colorado revised statute (C.R.S. 24-50-135(1) allows colleges to exempt positions from the State Personnel Classified System that are determined to be professional level work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two or more years of professional level experience in recruitment, admissions, enrollment, student services, marketing, advising, public relations, career counseling, or closely related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in public speaking and presenting information to large groups.
  • Demonstrated recruitment experience in high school or higher education.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write Spanish.

Essential Functions 

High School & Community Recruitment

  • Represent Pikes Peak State College at local high schools within the service area.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with high school counselors, teachers, and administrators, providing updated information about the college and its enrollment process.
  • Conduct information sessions, classroom presentations, and other activities to raise awareness and assist high school students with the enrollment process.
  • Coordinate with various departments, including Student Services, Marketing, and Faculty, to develop outreach materials and presentations.
  • Represent the college at virtual college fairs and other off-campus events.
  • Provide guidance to prospective students on admissions, enrollment processes, transfer options, Career & Technical Education programs, testing, advising, financial aid, scholarships, and tuition payment procedures.
  • Meet with prospective students and their families to advise them on admissions and encourage enrollment.
  • Collaborate with the High School Programs Office to support Career Start and Concurrent Enrollment students transitioning to undergraduate coursework.
  • Represent the college at community events and assist with other off-campus recruiting events.

On-Campus Recruitment Activities 

  • Plan, organize, implement, and lead on-campus virtual and in-person recruitment activities, such as campus visits, tours, information sessions, open houses, and other programs.
  • Assist with other on-campus recruitment and enrollment activities.
  • Work with prospective students and their families to identify academic and career interests and assist with the application process, financial aid, and understanding the testing, advising, and registration process.
  • Direct students to appropriate campus resources, including career planning, accommodative services, and other student support services.
  • Utilize customer relationship management software and student information systems to track student progress and communicate with students.
  • Serve as an information and referral resource for other colleges and community organizations to connect prospective students to Pikes Peak State College.
  • Collaborate with faculty to develop academic program-specific recruitment presentations and events.

Communication

  • Communicate with prospective students, applicants, high school counselors, and parents about program and procedural questions through various methods.
  • Contact prospective and new students as part of communication campaigns to assist with application and enrollment processes and help them decide if Pikes Peak State College is the right fit for them.
  • Process and respond to requests for additional college information.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide regular reports on recruitment and enrollment goals.

  • Participate in training and professional development related to student information systems and customer relationship management software.
  • Attend job-specific workshops, conferences, and other professional development opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Flexibility to adapt to a dynamic environment.
  • Understanding of diversity and multiculturalism concepts and their application in the workplace.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to travel for recruitment purposes.
