The Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) Coordinator will manage the coordination of goals, objectives, and activities related to HSI Designation and Title V grant initiatives, aiming to enhance educational opportunities and improve the success rates of Hispanic and low-income students. The HSI Coordinator will communicate, implement and monitor HSI project objectives to various college constituencies and maintain effective communication and oversight to ensure that project operation is consistent with federal Department of Education mandates, HSI institutional goals, and perform other project related work as needed. This position will demonstrate a strong commitment to the value of diversity among students and staff, as well as sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of PPSC students. This position creates an atmosphere of trust and respect in which all can succeed. The college offers the possibility of alternative work arrangements such as flexplace, remote work, or flextime scheduling upon completion of training and department needs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completed Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution. 
  • Two years of professional level experience in higher education, grant administration, program management, or cross-functional work focusing on student advocacy and success.
  • English and Spanish language proficiency.

Professional level experience is defined by the Colorado Division of Human Resources: A position that involves the exercise of discretion, analytical skill, judgment, personal accountability, and responsibility for creating, developing, integrating, applying, or sharing an organized body of knowledge.  Colorado revised statute (C.R.S. 24-50-135(1) allows colleges to exempt positions from the State Personnel Classified System that are determined to be professional level work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completed Master's degree in higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, Organizational Leadership, Social Sciences, Behavioral Sciences or closely related field. 
  • Demonstrated experience in academic or student services. 
  • Demonstrated experience with the development, implementation and/or management of Title V or a similar federal grant with an emphasis on Latine, low-income, first-generation college students. 
  • Knowledge of retention strategies, peer learning, cohort models, concurrent courses, supplemental instruction. 
  • Posses a high level of cultural competency with Hispanic/Latine communities. 
  • Demonstrated project management and organizational skills.

Essential Functions 

  • Design, implement, and assess engagement initiatives aimed at promoting academic success and increasing the retention Hispanic/Latine students.
  • Serve as a liaison between partner institutions, staff, faculty, and students to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Assess and improve outreach efforts by collecting, analyzing, and reporting on relevant data to inform future strategies and initiatives.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to maintain and enhance relationships with students and their families, partner organizations, community colleges, and high schools, facilitating collaboration and promoting the HSI grant programs.
  • Represent the college and/or program on a variety of internal and external committees; develop partnerships with community agencies, business/industry and local government; liaison with local high schools, other colleges and academic institutions.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of grant fiscal records, student records and evaluation data, collaborate with internal and external evaluators, including our Grants Development Director, to develop reports.
  • Analyze and prepare budgets and associated data reports.
