The IT Service Desk Specialist provides technical support to both the Administrative and Instructional Computing areas on end-user computing hardware, software, peripheral equipment, and audio/video/multimedia for all Pikes Peak State College campuses and sites.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Completed Bachelor's degree OR completed Associate's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Networking Technology, or related field plus two years of professional level experience performing similar duties  to those described for this position OR High School Diploma/GED plus three years of directly related professional level work experience performing similar duties to those described for this position. 

Professional level experience is defined by the Colorado Division of Human Resources: A position that involves the exercise of discretion, analytical skill, judgment, personal accountability, and responsibility for creating, developing, integrating, applying, or sharing an organized body of knowledge.  Colorado revised statute (C.R.S. 24-50-135(1) allows colleges to exempt positions from the State Personnel Classified System that are determined to be professional level work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • General knowledge of Help Desk ticketing system.
  • CompTIA A+ or similar Computer Troubleshooting Certification.
  • ITIL v3 Certification.
  • Experience supporting MacOS.
  • Experience working in Higher Education.

Salary range is $51,000.00 to $54,000.00 annual gross.  For full consideration, all application materials must be received by 4:00 p.m. on August 19, 2024.    

Must be a State of Colorado resident or able to relocate to Colorado prior to first date of employment.  All work must be performed in the State of Colorado.

Essential Functions  

  • IT support relating to technical issues involving Microsoft’s core business applications and operating systems both on-prem and cloud.
  • IT support relating to technical issues involving Apple products and operating systems.
  • Basic technical support at the network level: WAN and LAN connectivity, WiFi, and security.
  • Basic remote access solution implementation and support: VPN.
  • Monitor the remote monitoring and management system alerts and notifications and respond accordingly through service tickets.
  • System documentation maintenance.
  • Communication with customers as required: keeping them informed of incident progress, notifying them of impending changes and agreed outages.
  • Perform basic MS Azure Active Directory/Active Directory related functions.
  • Provide hands-on classroom support, both audio-video and computing.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

 General Duties, Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Cultural competence and demonstrated evidence, understanding, and commitment to the concepts of diversity, multiculturalism, and their application in the workplace.
  • Ability to work on multiple priority tasks of varying difficulty and length.
  • Provide tier 1 technical support, in person, over the phone and remotely.
  • Document, troubleshoot, resolve or escalate requests/tickets.
  • Knowledge of microcomputer (PC) principles, operations, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of current Windows and Mac operating systems as well as Chrome, Android and IOS operating systems.
  • Knowledge of standard office automation software, such as Microsoft Office and Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Skill in maintaining both PCs and Mac.
  • Skill in videoconferencing solutions such as Webex and Zoom. Skill in effective business and interpersonal communication.
  • Skill in customer service and customer support.
