INTERNAL ANNOUNCEMENT - Applicants must be a current, active Pikes Peak State College employee within the 2025 calendar year, any capacity.

Regular NUA Faculty work under the direction of the Director of Nursing Education Practices and are responsible for meeting all scheduled classes/labs/clinics and providing instruction in accordance with the philosophy and objectives of the College and the Department Chair's approved course outline. Regular Faculty are also responsible for using teaching methods and media designed to reach students of varying educational and experiential backgrounds to allow each student the opportunity to master the objectives of the course.

Regular Faculty are required to serve a provisional period from the date of employment until the completion of employment under three consecutive full year regular contracts.

This position may require working in virtual, weekend, evening, or various campus locations. Successful candidate must be willing to teach concurrent enrollment both on PPSC campuses and in local area high schools

The required teaching schedule is August to May. The required pay schedule is September to August

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completed associate degree in nursing from a nationally accredited nursing program.
  • Current Colorado RN license in good standing without restrictions.
  • Two years of clinical nursing experience in caring for the elderly or experience caring for chronically ill of any age, of which at least one year must be in the provision of services in a long-term care facility.
  • Successfully completed a course in teaching adults, documented experience teaching adults or one year experience in managing nurse aides.
  • Possess or be eligible to obtain a Colorado Career & Technical Education Teaching Credential Colorado State Credentialing.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with underrepresented populations in successful efforts to close the achievement gap.

Professional level experience is defined by the Colorado Division of Human Resources: A position that involves the exercise of discretion, analytical skill, judgment, personal accountability, and responsibility for creating, developing, integrating, applying, or sharing an organized body of knowledge.  Colorado revised statute (C.R.S. 24-50-135(1) allows colleges to exempt positions from the State Personnel Classified System that are determined to be professional level work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completed bachelor’s degree in nursing from a nationally accredited nursing program.
  • Community college or hospital teaching experience.
  • Experience in program assessment.
  • Experience with program accreditation.

Essential Functions  

Teaching

  • Initial and ongoing planning and delivery of appropriate classroom, laboratory, and clinical curriculum.
  • Maintains curriculum, instructional materials, and evaluation tools; reviews and updates course outlines, textbooks, and nursing courses; assists with the preparation of course proposals, curriculum updates and the construction of degree/certificate programs.
  • Applies and maintains standards of quality operating methods, processes, systems, and procedures; implements changes as necessary to maintains a successful CNA certificate program; integrates knowledge of industry and serves on college committees as assigned needs and professional training to continuously improve program quality.
  • Manages and teaches assigned nursing courses and maintains written instructional standards; facilitates instruction using alternative delivery methods as needed; informs students in writing of instructional standards; posts and maintains weekly office hours; participates in the assessment of student learning outcomes; establishes, maintains, and submits accurate student and instructional records in a timely manner.
